If you own a Stellentis vehicle, you need to pay attention to one of the most recent auto recalls. Hundreds of thousands of Stellantis vehicles are subject to a recall due to some of its cars’ airbags. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) released a brief explaining what the problem is, which vehicles are affected, and what to do if you own one of the faulty cars. Until you know for sure that your vehicle is safe, you should exercise extra caution when driving it.

Why Is Stellantis Recalling So Many Vehicles?

According to the NHTSA brief, “the right and left side curtain air bags may have insufficient pressure retention from improperly sealed seams.” Pressure retention is a key part of what makes an airbag work properly. Without it, you’re in more danger than normal during a crash. The NHTSA warns that “an air bag with insufficient pressure retention increases the risk of ejection and injury during a crash.” Because the Stellantis vehicles have faulty airbags, “these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 226, ‘Ejection Mitigation.'”

Which Stellantis Vehicles Are Subject to This Airbag Recall?

Over 250,000 Stellantis vehicles have faulty airbags, including the:

  • 2022 Pacifica
  • 2023 Pacifica
  • 2024 Pacifica
  • 2025 Pacifica
  • 2022 Voyager
  • 2023 Voyager
  • 2024 Voyager
  • 2025 Voyager

If you own one of the aforementioned vehicles, keep an eye on your mailbox. Interim notification letters alerting owners about the safety risk should be mailed out by the end of June 2025. A follow-up letter will be sent out once the remedy is ready.

How Will Stellantis Fix This Problem?

Stellantis says that “dealers will inspect and replace the side curtain airbags, as necessary, free of charge.” However, the NHTSA notes that the company “is petitioning NHTSA for a determination that this matter is inconsequential to motor vehicle safety.” While this petition is active, “the manufacturer is not obligated to conduct an owner notification and remedy campaign.” However, “if the petition is denied, the manufacturer will be notified and must then undertake its notification and remedy campaign obligations.”

If you have further questions, you can contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. When you do, you’ll need to give a recall number. The NHTSA’s number for this recall is 25V302000, and Chrysler’s numbers are 06C, 54C and 55C.
